Osakis, MN

Osakis is a city in Douglas and Todd counties on the southwest shore of Lake Osakis, a lake that gave the city its name. Minnesota’s Department of Natural Resources lists Osakis among the state’s long-running ice-out records, with observations reaching back to the nineteenth century. The city’s older built history includes the John B. Johnson House, listed on the National Register, and the lake still sets the shape of the local map. Osakis is a central Minnesota lake town where county lines, weather records, and an old house meet at the water.
