Paisley, FL

Paisley is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in northern Lake County, part of the Orlando-Kissimmee metropolitan area. Its post office has operated since 1886, and the name came from Paisley, Scotland; older local names included Acron and Lightwood. The 2020 census counted 980 residents. County roads through Paisley lead toward Lake Norris, the Ocala National Forest, and the rural north end of Lake County.

Lake Norris gives the community a larger outdoor neighbor. The Lake Norris Conservation Area protects 2,228 acres of hardwood swamp, uplands, and Blackwater Creek, with paddling and primitive camping nearby. Camp La-No-Che, on the lake's north shore, uses a Paisley address and runs year-round scouting programs at the Leonard and Marjorie Williams Family Scout Reservation. The Paisley Woods Bicycle Trail adds another local route. Lake Norris Road and County Road 42 keep the lake and community connected. Paisley is a small inland Florida community where an old post office name, a conservation landscape, and a busy youth camp meet on the same roads.
