About Palisades Park
Broad Avenue’s central business district expresses Palisades Park’s role in Korean American culture: the corridor has been called Koreatown and contains a concentration of Korean restaurants. Until the 1980s, many residents traced their family origins to Italy, Croatia, Germany, and Greece; Korean immigration then reshaped the Bergen County borough during the 1990s. Palisades Park High School has hosted national Kumdo martial-arts tournaments. The borough itself was created from Ridgefield Township in 1899 and named for its position atop the New Jersey Palisades; Fort Lee annexed a portion in 1909. In 2015, the Korean-American Association of Palisades Park proposed adding a Korean-themed second name to Broad Avenue.
