Park City, UT

Park City climbs from the southern end of Snyderville Basin into mountains on three sides, 32 miles southeast of downtown Salt Lake City. Most of the Wasatch Back city lies in Summit County, with a smaller section in Wasatch County; 8,396 people lived there in 2020. Early Mormon pioneers crossed the area en route to the Salt Lake Valley, and a later mining boom brought prospectors and camps. The mining shutdown brought a period of decline, while resort development drove renewed growth in the 1980s and 1990s. Deer Valley and Park City Mountain hosted major skiing and snowboarding events during the 2002 Winter Olympics; Utah Olympic Park remains among the city’s recreation sites. Park City hosted the Sundance Film Festival from 1978 through 2026, after which the festival is set to relocate to Boulder, Colorado. The city also has hundreds of miles of hiking and bicycling trails.
