Parkers Prairie, MN

Parkers Prairie is an Otter Tail County city in west-central Minnesota, about 20 miles north of I-94 near Alexandria. The 2020 census counted 1,020 residents. Minnesota Highway 29 and County Road 38 cross the community, while the city's schools, clinic, manufacturing, and farm businesses serve a broad rural area. AbbeyMoor Medical operates its headquarters and manufacturing plant here, giving the town a medical-device employer alongside the agricultural economy. The county's lake country and farm fields meet at its edge.

Parkers Prairie took shape in 1867 after two men, Parker and Adley, blazed a trail through timber and marsh to an open prairie. The city was platted in 1880, about a decade after Parkers Prairie Township, and incorporated in 1903. That beginning still matches the town's map: a settled prairie opening in a lake-and-farm county, tied by Highway 29 to Alexandria and by local roads to the smaller communities around it. The school, clinic, manufacturing floor, and grain country all share that same crossroads.
