Parkway Village, KY

Parkway Village is a tiny home-rule city in west-central Jefferson County, completely surrounded by Louisville Metro. It was developed in the 1920s and incorporated in 1941, so the city’s story is about a neighborhood-scale municipality holding onto its own government as Louisville grew around it. South of downtown, the community sits between Preston Street on the west, Clarks Lane on the north, Packard Avenue on the south, and Parklawn Drive on the east. Kentucky Route 61 marks its western edge.

Village Green Park on Alexander Avenue is the clearest shared address today, with green space between Melford Avenue and Perennial Drive. City commissioners meet monthly at Audubon Park City Hall, while Louisville supplies the larger road, utility, and metropolitan setting around the city. There is no separate downtown to orient a visitor; the boundaries, park, and nearby Louisville streets do that work. The local scoop is the municipal pocket itself: a 1941 city tucked inside the broader Louisville map, with a village green as its common ground.
