The CDP held 22,778 residents in 2020, compared with 56,162 across the township. Its landscape is organized around water: neighborhoods surround Lake Parsippany in the southwest, while the CDP reaches the south end of Boonton Reservoir; the two drain toward Eastmans Brook and the Rockaway River, respectively. At township scale, transportation is equally defining. Interstate 80 and Interstate 287 meet near the center and divide the municipality into four quadrants, with routes 46, 202, 10, 53, and 280 adding more arterial corridors. Daily civic life likewise extends beyond the CDP boundary. One resident card works at the Main, Lake Hiawatha, and Mount Tabor branches of the Parsippany Library and also carries reciprocal borrowing privileges through regional library networks.

The system runs English-learning and computer classes and lends museum passes, seeds, puzzles, and equipment for technology, crafts, and STEAM activities. Across the township, 31 parks preserve more than 800 acres, ranging from the small Lake Hiawatha Park to 352-acre Knoll Park. The 2026 municipal calendar placed Friday farmers markets at Smith Field Park and a series of summer concerts along Route 46. Transportation options include two free township bus routes beginning at Morris Hills Shopping Center, while NJ Transit routes 871 through 875 connect Parsippany with communities including Morristown, Wayne, Dover, and Madison.
