About Passaic
Passaic was laid out by Charles S. Conklin on July 14, 1891, along the Missouri Pacific Railroad, and named for Passaic, New Jersey. That origin places the Bates County town within the region’s late nineteenth-century rail network, even though its present scale is much smaller. County history is preserved through the Bates County Museum and State Historical Society collections, while Butler R-V provides the nearest public-school system for the area. Passaic remains a rural Missouri town with a clear railroad beginning.
