About Paxville

Paxville is a town in Clarendon County, South Carolina, United States. The 2010 census counted 185 residents. The town was named after Joseph Pack. Joseph Pack and his wife, Louisa Alexandria Pack, arrived in America from England in the year 1770. The short version is that Paxville carries an earlier story into the places people know and use now. That is the local read on Paxville: its past remains attached to the places people use now. He became one of the most extensive land holders in the Carolina Low Country, having acquired more than 10,000 acres of land. Paxville is located in western Clarendon County. U.S. Route 15 passes through the town, leading north 14 miles to Sumter and south 9 miles to Summerton.
