About Pell City

Pell City is one of St. Clair County's two county seats, sitting east of Birmingham near Logan Martin Lake. It began as a railroad and land-company town in 1890 and later grew around Avondale Mills, whose legacy remains in the Avondale Mill Historic District. Jefferson State Community College also has a presence here. The town's strongest draw is probably its combination of lake access, county-seat function, and a small-city role within the Birmingham orbit.
