Pella is a city in Marion County, Iowa, located forty miles southeast of Des Moines. Founded in 1847 by eight hundred Dutch immigrants led by Dominee Hendrik Scholte, the community of approximately 10,700 celebrates its heritage with the annual Tulip Time Festival. Pella is home to Central College and serves as a major manufacturing center, hosting the headquarters of the Pella Corporation and Vermeer Manufacturing, near scenic Lake Red Rock.
