Penns Creek, PA

Penns Creek occupies a long, narrow setting in Center Township, Snyder County, along the creek that gives the community its name. PA Route 104 runs through the settlement between Middleburg and Mifflinburg, crossing a landscape of farms, wooded stretches, and scattered homes. The lower Penns Creek Valley was being settled by the 1740s, and the present community was founded in 1806 by Lt. George Weirick, a War of 1812 veteran. That older timeline still shows up in the way roads and residences follow the valley.

Today, Penns Creek is a small residential and agricultural place with its strongest connections running along Route 104. The creek shapes the northern edge, while farm fields and tree lines fill the space between the road and the surrounding hills. Trips to Middleburg, Mifflinburg, and larger Snyder County service centers organize much of the practical week, yet the community retains a recognizable local name and a clear geographic center. Its story is easy to picture: a settlement founded beside a waterway, later threaded by a state route, and still held together by the farms, houses, and bridges that sit along the valley.
