Pine Brook, NJ

Pine Brook is the flat, southern section of Montville Township, tucked into a bend between the Passaic and Rockaway rivers. Along with Towaco and Montville proper, it is one of the three distinct communities that make up the township. Dutch farmers settled here in the early 1700s, drawn by the fertile soil along the riverbanks to raise dairy, fruit, and vegetables. Over time, that agricultural hub developed into established suburban neighborhoods, with the low-lying terrain gradually rising into hills as you travel north.

Getting around is straightforward because the area is built for drivers. Route 46 and Bloomfield Avenue run right through Pine Brook, giving residents convenient access to local diners, retail plazas, and professional services, while Interstate 80 sits just to the north. Changebridge Road serves as the main north-south route connecting these commercial corridors to quiet residential streets. Commuters who rely on the train can drive a few minutes up into Towaco to catch NJ Transit's Montclair-Boonton Line into the city.

Because Pine Brook sits on lower ground near the rivers, drainage and flooding are practical details every homebuyer should keep in mind.
