Pine Haven, WY

Pine Haven is a Crook County town in northeastern Wyoming beside Keyhole State Park and Reservoir, south of Devils Tower National Monument. The 2020 census counted 493 residents. Pine trees, county roads, town hall, local water and sewer systems, and summer recreation around Keyhole shape the daily geography. Powder River Energy supplies electricity, and the Moorcroft Leader serves as the official newspaper. Students attend Crook County School District No. 1 campuses in the Moorcroft area, so school buses and county services connect Pine Haven with nearby communities.

Coop and Betty Waters are credited with helping the community take form, and Pine Haven incorporated after a local vote on December 19, 1986. The town still marks that date with its birthday celebrations. Keyhole's reservoir brings boating, fishing, camping, and seasonal visitors, while the surrounding Black Hills country brings wildlife, open prairie, and working energy landscapes. Pine Haven is small enough that the town hall, utility notices, emergency alerts, and school routes matter as much as the scenery. Its local map is a Wyoming mix of homes among the pines, recreation roads, and services shared with Moorcroft and Crook County.
