Pine Plains, NY

Pine Plains is a Dutchess County census-designated place and hamlet inside the town of Pine Plains, on the county's northern edge beside Columbia County. The 2020 census counted 1,142 residents. The hamlet sits in a valley named for its pine-covered plain, with Stissing Mountain rising to the southwest and the hamlet center gathered around the local roads. The wider town grew from the Little Nine Partners Patent and the Moravian mission at Shekomeko, giving this small Hudson Valley center a deeper historical layer than its size suggests.
