Pinehurst, TX (City)

Pinehurst is an Orange County city on the eastern Texas edge, about 20 miles east of Beaumont and a short drive west of Orange and the Louisiana line. The 2020 census counted 2,232 residents. Interstate 10 and State Highways 62 and 73 do the regional work, while Old Highway 90 and the roads through town carry the local traffic. The community began as Pinehurst Heights, a residential and retail development platted in 1948, and incorporated in 1955. Its name came from the Pinehurst Ranch and the tall pines that marked the area.

Pinehurst grew along the highways, with MacArthur Drive and Strickland Drive becoming the main business corridors as the city expanded. West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District serves local students, and the city calendar now revolves around council meetings, cleanup days, park events, and neighborhood notices. That mix gives Pinehurst a very particular southeast Texas feel: a postwar city formed between the older Orange industrial map and the I-10 corridor, close enough to Beaumont and Louisiana for regional connections but still organized around its own streets, schools, and municipal hall.
