About Plano
Plano is a Warren County crossroads community about 10 miles southeast of Bowling Green, with roads, farms, a cemetery, and two historic churches supplying the clearest local map. It took shape in the late 19th century, when stores, a church, and a school served scattered farmsteads. The one-room school built around 1908-1919 and the two-room school from 1925 are gone, so the community's school history now lives in the older church and farm landscape. Old Union Missionary Baptist Church traces its congregation to 1795 and its current structure to 1866, while Plano Baptist Church grew from an 1897 reorganization and still sits beside its cemetery and fellowship grounds. Plano is a named rural place held together by old church properties and the roads that meet around them.
