About Pleasant Plains
Pleasant Plains is an unincorporated Somerset County community and census-designated place centered around South Middlebush Road, Claremont Road, and Suydam Road in Franklin Township. Its older map was made up of 18th- and 19th-century farms and rural lanes before the Town and Country Estates development arrived in 1998. The nearby Six Mile Run Historic District preserves that earlier landscape through farmhouses, outbuildings, and the old road pattern. Pleasant Plains is a New Jersey place whose name covers a crossroads, a farm belt, and a surviving piece of Franklin Township’s rural past.
