Pleasant Valley, OR

Pleasant Valley is an unincorporated Tillamook County community about seven miles south of Tillamook along U.S. 101. It is a small roadside place, and even the name is more descriptive than official-sounding: the valley gave the community its label. The local frame is the highway, the short distance to Tillamook, and the country-store scale of the settlement. Pleasant Valley is one of those Oregon places that makes sense from the road map first—a small stop on the route through the county, with the surrounding valley doing most of the naming.
