About Pocono Pines

Pocono Pines is a Monroe County place in the Pocono Mountains, home to the communities of Lake Naomi and Pinecrest Lake. Lake Naomi began taking shape in 1895, when a dam across Tunkhannock Creek backed up water into a lake over a mile long. The area’s resort history also runs through the Pocono Pines Assembly, whose summer grounds included an inn, hall, and auditorium overlooking the lake. Today the local map is easier to read as lakes and community associations than as a conventional borough center. Pocono Pines is the kind of place where the names on the water tell much of the story.
