About Point of Rocks

Point of Rocks is a quiet, scenic community sitting along the Potomac River in southern Frederick County. Named for the dramatic rock formations where Catoctin Mountain meets the water, this small town of around 1,900 residents offers a peaceful, rural feel with easy access to the outdoors. The C&O Canal towpath runs right along the water, making it a great spot for weekend bike rides, fishing, and kayaking.

The area is also a favorite for commuters thanks to its MARC train station, which provides a direct train into Washington, D.C., right next to the town's famous 1870s Victorian depot. Drivers can take Route 15 north to Frederick or south into Leesburg, Virginia, while Route 28 heads east toward Montgomery County. Families are served by Frederick County Public Schools, and residents get to enjoy a calm, small-town atmosphere surrounded by mountain views.
