Porum, OK

Tucked into the countryside of southeastern Muskogee County, Porum is a quiet, close-knit community with deep Oklahoma roots. The town was named for Cherokee rancher and leader John Porum Davis, officially coming together in 1905 when two neighboring settlements merged. State Highway 2 runs right through town, giving residents a direct ten-mile drive north to Warner and easy access to nearby Lake Eufaula. Local lore also ties the area to the frontier history of the Starr family and the legendary Belle Starr. Today, Porum offers a relaxed, rural setting grounded in Cherokee heritage.
