Post, TX

Post is Garza County's seat on the edge of the Llano Estacado, where U.S. 84 and 380 meet the Caprock. The city was once home to Postex Cotton Mills, which began production in 1913 and eventually employed hundreds making cotton sheets and Garza pillowcases. Farming, ranching, and oilfield work later became part of the local mix, while the OS Museum adds a wonderfully odd Post detail: exhibits pair the American West with Asia. The city's name even traveled into paleontology—Postosuchus was named for Post. This is West Texas with a county-seat role, a hard caprock edge, and more history packed into the name than you might expect.
