About Powder Springs
Powder Springs is a Cobb County city west of Atlanta, with roots reaching back to its 1838 incorporation as Springville on land associated with Cherokee leaders. Its name came from mineral springs in the area, not from gunpowder, and its history also touches the Civil War landscape around Kennesaw Mountain. Today Powder Springs is a growing suburban community with parks, trails, schools, and access to Atlanta-area jobs. It feels quieter than the core metro, but still firmly part of Cobb County's westward growth.
