Prescott, WA

Prescott is a Walla Walla County city in southeastern Washington, with 372 residents in the 2020 census. A post office has operated here since 1881, and the city was named for C.H. Prescott, a railroad executive; incorporation followed in 1903. State Route 124 runs through town, linking Prescott with Burbank and Waitsburg, while Route 125 connects south toward Walla Walla. The highways cross rolling, semi-arid wheat country and keep the town tied to the farm economy. The town’s small scale makes those connections visible, with transportation and school life folded into the same few streets.

Rail remains part of the map through the Palouse River and Coulee City Railroad line near town. A Walla Walla County Heritage collection preserves Prescott Pre-School Association records from 1949 through 1966, and the local school district remains another town-sized institution. Prescott is a tiny Washington city where the post office, highways, shortline rail, schoolhouse, and dry farm country all point to the same regional crossroads.
