About Princeton

The Town of Princeton covers a broad part of Green Lake County around the City of Princeton, with the unincorporated community of Green Lake Terrace also within its boundaries. The town's landscape is a patchwork of farm fields, woodlots, wetlands, and roads leading toward Green Lake, Marquette County, and the Fox Valley. The nearby city provides the main downtown address, but the town's character is rural and spread across a larger map.

Most of the town belongs to Princeton School District, while smaller pieces fall within Green Lake and Markesan districts. Town Hall, recycling days, election activity, and county roads are the ordinary infrastructure that holds this area together. County roads and farms fill the spaces between those named places. The City of Princeton grew from an 1840s village into a regional center with a historic downtown, Polish picnic tradition, library, and local historical society, and the surrounding town shares in that orbit. Princeton is a Wisconsin town where municipal boundaries, school lines, farms, and lake country overlap.
