About Pronghorn
Pronghorn is the census name for a resort community in Deschutes County, four miles south of Redmond and within the Bend metropolitan area. The 2020 census counted 92 residents, which gives the place an unusual scale: a very small year-round population attached to a large, recognizable resort. The development opened as Pronghorn Resort in 2002 and rebranded as Juniper Preserve in 2022, so both names remain useful when you are figuring out the roads, addresses, and local conversation.
The resort sits in Central Oregon's high-desert juniper country and includes the Pronghorn Golf Club, Juniper Lodge, dining, and spa facilities. That polished side of the map is balanced by the ordinary systems that serve the people who live there. Pronghorn falls within Redmond School District 2J, with Tumalo Elementary, Obsidian Middle, and Ridgeview High as the listed schools, and Deschutes County is within the Central Oregon Community College district. Pronghorn is not a conventional town with a main street; it is a resort district with a tiny census footprint, a changing brand, and a very Central Oregon mix of golf, juniper, and school-boundary geography.
