Quonochontaug, known locally as "Quonnie," sits along the southern edge of Charlestown, Rhode Island, bordered by two large salt ponds and the Atlantic Ocean. The village is divided into three distinct neighborhoods (West Beach, Central Beach, and East Beach), mostly made up of classic coastal cottages and quiet private lanes. While summer brings a steady wave of seasonal residents and busy boat ramps, the off-season settles into a peaceful, small-town rhythm for the few hundred people who live here year-round.

Living here means trading commercial convenience for open space and easy water access. Local children attend schools in the Chariho Regional District, but you will need to drive about fifteen minutes into neighboring Westerly or South Kingstown for supermarkets, restaurants, and medical care. Daily routines naturally revolve around the outdoors, from kayaking and clamming in the salt ponds to walking the sand at Blue Shutters Beach and exploring the trails at Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge.
