Ralls, TX

Ralls sits on the level Llano Estacado in Crosby County, at the junction of U.S. 62, U.S. 82, and State Highway 207. The 2020 census counted 1,665 residents. Cotton and grains dominate the surrounding farm country, with soybeans, sunflowers, and vegetables in the mix. The town lies between Lorenzo and Crosbyton, with Cone and the edge of Blanco Canyon to the north. That puts Ralls in the flat, wide-open part of West Texas where roads, fields, and freight shape the local map.

John R. Ralls and W.E. McLaughlin laid out the townsite in July 1911, and businesses and homes moved in from Emma. Santa Fe rail service brought settlers and freight; the city incorporated in 1922. The Ralls Historical Museum occupies the old John R. Ralls Bank building and holds Crosby County history in fifteen period rooms. Ralls Independent School District and the town's stores, grain facilities, and farm services carry the practical side forward. Ralls feels like a place built around a townsite, a school, a railroad, and the fields that still reach to the horizon.
