Raymond, WA

Set along the Willapa River in southwest Washington, Raymond is a quiet, scenic town of about 3,200 residents. The community grew out of the Pacific Northwest's early timber and fishing trades, and that heritage is still visible in its historic riverfront, the 1928 Raymond Theatre, and the Northwest Carriage Museum. One of the first things newcomers notice is the collection of more than two hundred rusted steel wildlife sculptures scattered along the roadsides, welcoming drivers into town. Outdoor lovers can also jump right onto the Willapa Hills Trail for miles of walking and cycling through coastal forest.

Everyday living centers around local schools, neighborhood shops, and clinics, with neighboring South Bend right next door for additional county services. U.S. 101 runs straight through town, putting coastal beaches, Aberdeen, and Astoria within easy reach for day trips or bigger shopping runs. As with much of coastal Washington, winters bring plenty of rain and high river tides, but they give way to mild, green summers. It is a peaceful, down-to-earth spot for anyone seeking an affordable river town with a strong sense of place.
