About Redfield
Redfield is a Jefferson County city about 24 miles southeast of Little Rock, built along the rail-and-road line between Little Rock and Pine Bluff. The settlement grew after the Little Rock, Mississippi River and Texas Railway built a station named for company president Jared E. Redfield, and the railroad still runs through town. A preserved stretch of the old Dollarway Highway gives the city a second transportation layer, while the Redfield School Historic District marks the Depression-era school complex. The Pine Bluff and Jefferson County Library System operates the local public library, and northwest Jefferson County schools are part of White Hall School District. The city's present map is layered: railroad, highway, school grounds, library, and the old business center. Redfield is an Arkansas road-and-rail town whose story is easiest to see in the routes that still pass through it.
