About Reese
Reese is a Tuscola County village with a very railroad-shaped backstory. Louisa Woodruff and her son settled the area in 1865, the Saginaw-Watrousville plank road followed, and the railroad arrived in 1873. The village first passed through the names Gates and Reese before the station, post office, and town settled on Reese, honoring railroad superintendent Alvin H. Reese. Today the village sits mostly in Denmark Township, with a small piece reaching into Saginaw County. It is mid-Michigan in a road-and-rail story.
