About Richfield
Richfield began as Ritchie's Field, named for the Ritchie family that established the post office, sawmill, and early streets in southern Stanly County. The town sits where U.S. 52 meets N.C. 49, a crossroads that makes it feel more connected to the surrounding Piedmont than its size suggests. Richfield Park and the town's industrial park give the place two different faces: one built around open space and local gathering, the other around manufacturing and the highway network. The old name still tells the best part of the story. Richfield is a small Stanly County town that grew from one family's settlement into a road-town with room for both industry and everyday life.
