About Rio Verde

Rio Verde is a master-planned census-designated place in far northeastern Maricopa County, east of Scottsdale and near the Verde River. The area was first settled by small farmers in the 1880s who grew hay and alfalfa for nearby Fort McDowell. Modern Rio Verde is a much different place: a small, high-home-value desert community with golf, planned neighborhoods, and open Sonoran scenery. It feels removed from central Phoenix, but still very much part of the region's outer edge.
