About River Road

River Road is a Clallam County census-designated place just southwest of Sequim, with the city wrapping around its northern, eastern, and southern sides. U.S. 101 passes just north of the community, tying River Road to Sequim's road network and the wider Olympic Peninsula route. The surrounding Dungeness Valley has a strong agricultural history: irrigation ditches brought water from the Dungeness River to the dry prairie beginning in 1896, and Sequim grew as a farming and logging center before the highway era. River Road sits inside that same valley pattern, close to the city grid but outside Sequim's incorporated boundary. Its practical map is straightforward: homes, county roads, the highway, and Sequim immediately around three sides.
