Robbins, IL

Robbins is a small, historic village in Cook County's south suburbs, roughly twenty miles southwest of downtown Chicago. Home to about 4,600 residents, the neighborhood offers a peaceful, residential atmosphere with deep roots. Founded in the early 1900s, Robbins holds a prominent spot in American history as one of the first self-governing Black communities in the North. It is also famous for Robbins Airport, which was the first commercial airfield in the country owned and operated by African American aviators.
