Rochester, PA

Rochester is a Beaver County borough at the confluence of the Beaver and Ohio Rivers, about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, with 3,472 residents in the 2020 census. The river mouth made this a transportation and settlement site long before the borough incorporated in 1849; the area includes the former Logan Town, a Mingo village at the confluence, and later became an industrial hub. Today manufacturing, warehousing, retail, and health care share the local economy, and the borough still serves as a practical center for nearby communities.

Rochester Riverfront Park follows the water on the site of the historic Girard Lock. Its level, paved two-mile round-trip trail carries historical signs, fishing and boating access, pavilions, river views, and Flag Plaza. The Rochester Public Library, churches, the Rochester Area School District, and the Rochester Area Heritage Society museum fill out the center's civic life. Rochester is a river borough where the old industrial map, the Beaver-Ohio confluence, and a current riverfront park all occupy the same small footprint.
