Rockford, OH

Set along the St. Marys River in western Ohio, Rockford holds the title of Mercer County’s oldest village. Located about twelve miles northwest of Celina and an easy drive from the Indiana border, this quiet community started in the early 1800s as a trading post and river crossing known as Shane's Crossing. Today, it offers a peaceful, small-town atmosphere where historic brick storefronts and quiet residential streets sit right beside the water.

Daily life here centers around a compact downtown, home to local businesses, a historic Carnegie library, and neighborhood parks along the riverbank. Surrounded by open farmland, Rockford gives residents plenty of space while keeping regional travel straightforward. State Routes 33 and 118 run straight through town, making it easy to commute south to Celina or head northwest toward Fort Wayne for work, larger shopping centers, and weekend outings.
