Rocky Ridge is a quiet village set among the farm fields of western Ottawa County. First laid out in the 1830s, the community grew around the railroad, driven by limestone quarries, sawmills, and grain elevators that supported the surrounding agricultural area. In the early 1900s, a local gas company even drilled wells that supplied natural gas straight to neighborhood homes.

While the quarries and daily train traffic have faded into history, Rocky Ridge remains a peaceful rural community of about 150 households.
