Rogers, TX

Rogers sits at the meeting point of U.S. 190/State Highway 36 and Farm roads 437 and 2184, about 12 miles southeast of Temple in eastern Bell County. The town grew with the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway and took its name from railroad director John D. Rogers. Cotton, cattle, gins, banks, and a weekly newspaper made Rogers a substantial farm-service town in the early twentieth century; in 1918 it shipped more cotton than any other city in Texas. The old rail-and-cotton pattern still helps define the town’s location and Main Street.

Today Rogers ISD provides elementary, middle, and high-school campuses, and the town’s small municipal center is tied to larger Central Texas hubs. Temple is roughly 20 minutes northwest, Waco about 45 minutes away, and U.S. 190 connects Rogers toward both the Temple area and Cameron. Local routines combine school events, town services, and the surrounding agricultural road network, with regional medical, shopping, and higher-education options concentrated in larger cities. Rogers retains the outline of a railroad cotton town while functioning as a Bell County community in the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood orbit.
