Temple got its start back in 1881 as a bustling railroad town, and that heritage still shapes the center of the city today. Santa Fe Plaza sits directly in front of the depot, featuring an outdoor amphitheater lawn, fountains, a playground, and plenty of space for neighborhood gatherings. On the first Friday of every month, the district fills with energy for First Friday, bringing people together for live music, evening shopping, and local food trucks. It creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere where you can grab dinner, enjoy an outdoor concert, and watch an evening train glide past the plaza.
