About Rollingstone

Rollingstone is a Winona County city founded by Luxembourger immigrants after the Land Office opened in 1855. More than 300 Luxembourg families registered claims in the village and surrounding farm country between 1855 and 1900, and the city took its name from nearby Rollingstone Creek. That history shows up in the city's institutions, from the Luxembourg Heritage Museum to the old village buildings and Holy Trinity landmarks.

The city office shares the Rollingstone Community School building on Main Street, putting local government beside a K-5 charter school with outdoor classrooms, a prairie area, a pond, a nature trail, and a ball field. City Park adds tennis courts and a Frisbee golf course, and the Rollingstone Jaycees organize the annual Rollingstone Days celebration each August, including a cancer run/walk. Fire and rescue, youth baseball, the senior center, and local businesses fill out the civic map. Rollingstone's local scoop is the continuity: Luxembourg settlement shaped the town's beginnings, and the same school, park, museum, and volunteer groups still give that history a daily address.
