About Rosebud

Rosebud is a Falls County city where U.S. 77 runs through the center as Fifth Street, pointing north toward Waco and south toward Cameron. The route gives the town a clear place in central Texas, but the local landmark is much more distinctive: the Rosebud Christmas tree, a 170-foot artificial tree erected by Bell Falls Milam Electric Cooperative in the early 1960s. It is the kind of detail that turns a small city name into a story people remember.

Rosebud’s school life runs through the Rosebud-Lott Independent School District, tying the city to the nearby community of Lott as well as to Falls County. The combination of highway, school district, and giant tree gives the place a surprisingly legible character. Rosebud is a practical Route 77 town, but it also has a landmark with its own scale and season, the sort of local touch that makes a map entry feel like an actual community. The tree does the rest of the remembering.
