Rosemont, MD

Rosemont is an incorporated village in southern Frederick County, just north of the Potomac River and one mile southeast of Route 340. Maryland Routes 79 and 871 pass through, while the nearby town of Brunswick connects the village to shops, MARC rail, the river, C&O Canal, and the Appalachian Trail. The landscape is rolling farmland with mountain views toward Harper's Ferry Gap.

Rosemont became a municipality in 1953 and remains a very small residential village with its own burgess, commissioners, meetings, and annual picnic. Its chartered roads sit between the larger transportation lines of the Potomac Valley and the farm lanes of Frederick County. Residents use Brunswick and the surrounding county for schools, shopping, commuter rail, and other regular needs, then return to a village whose scale is set by houses, roads, and open land. Village decisions are made at a small civic scale, with county services just beyond the boundary. Rosemont is a Maryland foothill community with a formal local government and a wide view toward the river and mountains.
