Ruby, NY

Ruby is an Ulster County hamlet and CDP in the Town of Ulster, about six miles north of Kingston. The 2020 census counted 918 residents. Its post office opened in 1896, and the compact place sits among the old farm and quarry roads of the Hudson Valley. Bluestone quarrying was once Ruby's main industry, with Dutch and German settlers shaping the early community. The name is small on the map, but it carries a very specific corner-of-Ulster story. Kingston handles larger shopping and regional trips, while Ruby's school lines split between Kingston City and Saugerties Central districts.

The post office, local roads, nearby quarries, and the wider Town of Ulster keep the hamlet connected to the river cities while keeping it distinct from the suburbs.
