About Ruleville
Ruleville is a Sunflower County city in the Mississippi Delta, laid out by J. Rule after the railroad gave the settlement a stop in 1898. Cotton and freight shaped the town's early growth, and the Illinois Central depot that replaced the earlier terminal still carries that railroad story. Ruleville sits along U.S. 49W, about ten miles from Delta State University in Cleveland. It is a place where the Delta's flat agricultural map meets an old rail town, with the depot still giving the history a physical address.
