Rusk is a city and the county seat of Cherokee County, Texas, crossed by U.S. Routes 69 and 84. Established in 1846 and named for declaration signer Thomas Jefferson Rusk, the community of approximately 5,477 is home to the nation's longest wooden footbridge inside Jim Hogg Park and is served by the Rusk Independent School District.
