About Russells Point

Russells Point is a Logan County village on the southern shore of Indian Lake, a reservoir that began as Lewistown Reservoir for canals and local industry before becoming a recreation lake. A post office opened here in 1913, and the village took its name from the Russell family, whose homestead stood on the point. In the 1920s through mid-century, Sandy Beach Amusement Park and the Minnewawa Dance Hall made the shoreline a regional draw. Russells Point is Ohio lake country with a resort past still visible in the map.
