Rye, CO

Sitting in the foothills of the Wet Mountains, Rye is a quiet community in southern Colorado's Greenhorn Valley. Bordering the San Isabel National Forest, the area offers scenic, pine-covered terrain with quick access to hiking, camping, and fishing at nearby Lake San Isabel. It has a long history dating back to the late 1800s, and locals still share two favorite stories about its name: one claims it came from wild grasses, while the other credits pioneer rye whiskey.
