Sabetha is a city of 2,545 residents in the 2020 census, spread across Brown and Nemaha counties in northeast Kansas. The town began taking shape in the 1850s, and its name is often connected to “Sabbath,” the day associated with one early settler's arrival. Today, the county-line setting is less noticeable than the way Main Street and the downtown organize the place; Sabetha reads as a regional service town with a distinct manufacturing streak. Wenger Manufacturing grew from a Depression-era scrap-metal operation into a company making food-processing equipment, and Coperion also has a manufacturing presence here.
